Pat's Dream Fulfilled

Pat Hayes Pat was born in Windgap, Co. Kilkenny. He was educated at St. Nicholas National School, Windgap and Callan CBS. He served his apprentice as a Fitter Welder and worked in the Engineering business for a number of years.

As a young man at the time, he loved to sing and listen to country music. He also spent most of his spare time on the hurling pitch. Always a keen player, he represented his parish on the local GAA hurling team at all under-age grades right up to senior level. He also played for both Tipperary and Galway on the gaelic fields of America.

It was many years later before Pat fulfilled his dream. Whilst working in Dublin he was based in Barry’s Hotel in the mid 1970’s and there he met many of the top entertainers and managers in the showband circuit. Pat frequently joined in inimpromptu “sessions” and it was there that his recording ambition was formed. It was not until 1992 that he recorded his first song, “Bringing Mary Home”. This was followed by the hit single “On My Mind”. As a result of this successful single, a call from Tony Allen, of Foster & Allen, secured Pat his first album on the Roseland Record label. Since then, Pat has continued to record on a regular basis.
He continues to tour both here in Ireland and in the U.K. and is a regular guest on Peckham Country & Irish Musical Festival in London He also a frequent visitor to Scotland and the Outer Hebridies Island of Lewis. Pat runs a number of very successful Country Music Festival Weekends in Ireland and U.K. and is currently recording another album and DVD to be released in January 2011.
Pat is married to Noreen and has 2 daughters, Marie & and Imelda, and he continues to live in Windgap where he grew up.
